How do I choose a reputable fireworks operator

Ask to see their fireworks contractor/ operator licence and their current certificate of public liability insurance – in Queensland only fireworks contractors can conduct fireworks displays.

 

Fireworks Down Under Managing Director Warren Ritchie is a full-time, professionally trained and licensed Queensland fireworks contractor [No: 0410187] and has equivalent open licences in New South Wales, Victoria and the Northern Territory.

 

Fireworks Down Under operates to our government –approved Safety Management System and has a twenty million dollar public liability insurance cover through Lloyd’s of London.

 

How much will a display cost?

Costs are worked out to suit your budget according to the location of the display [land or water-based], the length of the display and the type of pyrotechnics used. Water-based displays may require Water Police etc for security reasons, they charge a fee for this service. Public liability insurance is included in the cost of the display.

How will the weather affect my display?

Wet weather won’t affect the display as all the fireworks are water-proofed. However, displays may need to be modified for cancelled if it’s too windy or stormy to do a safe display.

 

Can I buy fireworks from you?

Fireworks Down Under is licensed to sell to other fireworks contractor licence holders only.

 

What kind of notice is required for fireworks displays?

We prefer you give us as much notice as possible, especially for displays during peak periods, to ensure we can give you the five-star service we strive to provide.

 

The required notification periods to the relevant authorities are listed below:

Land-based displays need a minimum of 7 days notice to government authorities.

Water –based displays may require a minimum of 32 days notice to port authorities. Displays on Main Road land require a minimum of 42 days notice.

Some local councils require up to 8 week notice and may charge fees for using council land.
